PTA President – This person is in charge of the PTA Executive Board and will preside at all PTA Executive Board Meetings as well as all PTA General Assembly meetings. This person will also perform other duties such as: those as described in the by-laws, be a member ex-officio of all committees (except the nominating committee), submit local unit’s forms and all verification forms to the state immediately following the elections and no later than June 15th annually, coordinate the work of all officers and committees of the association that the purposes may be promoted.
PTA President Elect – This person will mirror the PTA President during the 2022-2023 school year with intent to take on the PTA President position the following year.
1st Vice President Programs – This person would act as an aide to the President and fill in as needed as well as serve as Programs chair. This would mean that they would be in charge of all programs including finding those people to lead and teach programs offered at JBD throughout the year. In addition, they would assume all duties as assigned.
2nd Vice President Membership – This person would also act as an aide to the President and fulfill duties as assigned, also serving as the PTA Membership chair. You will enter all membership information into the PTA database, attend monthly PTA meetings and perform all duties as assigned.
Communications – Communications or corresponding secretaries often are tasked with:
Recording Secretary – Will record the minutes from all meetings of the association. Keep the official copy of the local unit’s by-laws, maintain a membership list as required by the Virginia PTA, attend monthly PTA meetings and perform duties as assigned.
Treasurer – This person will be responsible for custody of all funds of the association, keep full and accurate accounting of all expenditures and receipts of the association, make disbursements as authorized by the president, executive board members, or association in accordance with the budget adopted by the association, remit all accounting by December 1st of the current year to the Virginia PTA state and National PTA dues for membership received prior to December 1st. Remit by March 1st dues received after December 1st of the previous year and remit by June 30th all dues received after March 1st. Have all checks signed by 2 officers of the PTA Executive Board. Prepare a written financial statement for each meeting of the association and prepare a Fiscal Year annual report to be presented to the PTA General Membership, have accounts examined according to auditing procedures, submit a 990 or 990 EZ report to the state within 15 days of filing. Submit a copy of the fiscal year audit within 30 days following the adoption of the audit by the general membership. And, perform all duties as assigned.

- Creating and maintaining an accurate list of the names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses of the executive board members.
- Notifying PA/PTA membership of meetings prior to the meeting date.
- Creating and distributing notices to the membership.
- Responding to all incoming correspondence from PA/PTA membership.
- Recording minutes if the recording secretary is not present at a meeting.
