**In 2011, approximately $2,100 was raised, enabling the PTA to award 4
scholarships in the amount of $520 each. There were 20 applications for 3 types of scholarships.
All applicants were former John B. Dey students, then high school seniors. They all had
exceptional resumes and outstanding grade point averages (most above 4.0), which made selecting the
winners a difficult task. The applications were judged on the basis of scholastic achievement,
participation in school and community activities and organizations, and written responses to
several questions.
